About this website

Please use the menu bar above to read about me, etc. What I made or mended in the past are showcased in the blog entries. I believe in making quality handmade items, mending/repairing and upcycling/remaking previously loved fabric items as much as possible. (I'm sorry, but I no longer accept translation/interpreting orders from new clients.)

About translating and interpreting

In 2017, I had to close my translation business and retire from being a certified translator, following health issues and dyslexia that had resurfaced.

I had mild dyslexia as a child but learned numerous coping techniques to deal with reading and writing that had to be done in my student and working years. However, it gradually worsened after I got sick in 2015, and now it takes much longer for me to read, write, and edit what I write/translate. This made it difficult to effectively work as a full-time translator, and I had to make a decision to close my translation business after much thought.

Currently, I only accept interpreting assignments from returning clients. (Dyslexia does not affect my ability to aurally comprehend and speak the two languages I know.)

Please contact Ms. Shana R. Shimizu or KAN Communications for certified translation. I have worked with them before at different occasions, and they are excellent. I highly recommend them.
